Villa Marina Vista

The villa is amazing, with two rooms, two full bathrooms, and a balcony with a view of Red Hook like no other. It was clean, and Netflix was handy for lazy days. We stayed with my wife and brother over the July 4th weekend. It sits at the top of a steep hill. If you’re fit enough to walk it, you may not need a vehicle, but I’d recommend a 4x4 if you’re comfortable driving on the left. At the bottom, Red Hook has everything, including Moe’s Fresh Market for groceries and essentials, spirits upstairs, and the ferry to Saint John. Sapphire Beach is about a 5-7 minute drive, and we enjoyed it. My main issue was not having a vehicle. The taxis made a killing off us, so make sure you have a way to get around, either a taxi or a rental car.

The location is up on the hill in Red Hook, across from the ferry. The kitchen and bathrooms have been updated, and the kitchen is well equipped with almost anything you might need. Furniture is basic and cheap, and the patio was just okay. The pool area was uninviting and not kept up. The grill’s propane tank was rusted and didn’t seem safe to use. Management was okay, and the owner was nice. Cabs don’t like picking you up and may tell you to walk down the hill, about .25 miles to the bottom. Wear flats, since the street is uneven. I wouldn’t stay in this unit again, but would recommend it to someone low maintenance.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and loved it. The views are amazing, and there’s room to park on the street right by the entrance.
