Hotel An Nhien

Compared with the other places I've stayed in Vietnam, this hotel has been brilliant so far. I've only just arrived and have a deluxe room. The air conditioning doesn't let me adjust the temperature, and the bathroom floor was wet when I got there, though that could have happened for any number of reasons. Otherwise I'm very satisfied. There's a socket beside the bed and drinking water in the corridor. The friendly dogs can keep you company if you sit out front. I personally think hotels should have lifts to distinguish them from hostels, but it isn't really a problem here.

The room feels old-fashioned, with no wardrobe for clothes. Instead, there's a stick in the middle of the room to hang them on. The TV doesn't work, the blanket is old, and the bathroom floor stays wet and floods. This feels more like a motel, or worse, than a hotel. I suppose that's why the owner took 20% off the regular price.

It was a great, inexpensive hotel, and we really liked it. The room looked recently renovated, with a clean, modern feel. Staff were very nice, even though their English wasn't very good. There was some renovation noise in the morning, but only after our first night.

The price is good, but there isn't much else going for the place. It was hard to find, there were no facilities, and only about half the equipment worked. A few drunk people knocked on our door several times around 1 and 2am on a Tuesday. The staff member was really friendly, though he didn't speak English.
