The food was mostly good, and the Mercado restaurant wait staff were excellent. I also had the best massage I’ve ever had at YHI Spa, but couldn’t book more because they were either full or short staffed. The gym was good, though the room was very hot, and the yoga sessions I attended were adequate. We spent 7 nights at Meliá Vinpearl Cam Ranh Beach Resort and, compared with other resorts we’d stayed at recently in Vietnam, it was a major disappointment. Our accommodation cost almost 85 million VND with the all inclusive option, but the drinks and snacks list had exclusions that belonged to another inclusive arrangement no one had told us about. It was confusing and embarrassing to be told we couldn’t order items shown on the inclusive list. Staff often called those items “free,” seemingly without realizing we’d paid a lot for the privilege. There was a class distinction throughout the resort that I hadn’t experienced elsewhere. If you weren’t a “LEVEL” guest in a beach front villa, you were made to feel second class, and the customer service reflected that. I also saw a manager speak to staff outside the “kids club” in a really disrespectful way, which made me sad. The new management has serious work to do, and the managers seemed absent.

Ms. Nga, the Senior Waitress, was attentive, kind, and professional, and made our dinner much better. She deserves a promotion. The staff were generally friendly and polite, though they seemed short-staffed during Tet. We loved the clean, spacious resort, its lovely design, facilities, beach, pools, and relaxing atmosphere. But the buffet at the main restaurant was disappointing: dishes were cold and undercooked, and the seafood didn’t seem fresh. The food menu needs to change. We’ll definitely be back, but hope the food improves.

Cam and the restaurant team made us feel welcome, serving consistently delicious, healthy food at Level that was cooked perfectly, with enough variety to keep every meal interesting. Hanh from guest services was impeccable, friendly and sharp, and always thinking ahead to anticipate our needs. The service from the whole team felt warm, professional, and proactive from the moment we arrived. After 40 years of travel, this is one of the best rooms we’ve stayed in. It’s beautiful and thoughtfully designed, with comfort, elegance, and practical details all balanced really well. We’ve only been here a couple of days, but already don’t want to leave. The rooms and hotel grounds are amazing, and the Level service has been wonderful, with staff always ready to help. A special thanks to Cam from the Level service and the girls at the Level lobby! We’re staying here now and really enjoying breakfast and dinner. The food is mostly Korean and Asian, which is totally fine with us. I’d recommend this place 100% if you’re after a chill, luxurious holiday.
