Sao Bien Cam Ranh

The setting was the highlight of my stay in Vietnam. With hills on three sides, the bay felt like our own private island. We went during the week and stayed for three nights, and had the whole bay to ourselves. The water was calm and salty, and it was a great place to get away from city stress. Staff even picked up clutter from the water and beach in the morning before guests woke up. We were six friends visiting last March and had a great time. The location is perfect, although you do have to climb down a hill. There are good stairs, but it could be difficult for elderly people. People are available to carry luggage from the hilltop and back up. We were all vegetarian. The resort provided some vegetarian dishes, though the choices were limited. The food was flavourful and portions were large. One evening they generously let us cook our own meal. Service was always prompt and helpful. The rooms weren’t very big, but the beds and rooms were comfortable for us. We spent most of our time at the beach anyway. The basic amenities were there, and they also provided extra table fans.

We’re so happy we held our beach wedding here. The venue has a unique, homely feel, and we can’t thank everyone enough for making our big day special. The food was delicious, and the staff were all kind and respectful, though their English was limited. The rooms are basic, but they’re either close to the bay or have a lovely open view.

The room was horrible. It was very dirty and reeked of ammonia. There was a yellow ring around the toilet’s water line, like it hadn’t been scrubbed in a while, and my bedsheet had blood stains that wouldn’t come out. Early in the morning, there was no luggage service to help carry things up the stairs. I’ll never return.

The best parts were the view, the clean beach, and all the little spots where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. The staff were friendly, and the food was just okay. You can hear quite a bit of noise from airplanes and nearby boats. Make sure you get a new bungalow. The old ones were very dirty, dated, and poorly maintained, and shouldn’t be rented out anymore, or at least not at that price. The facilities in general also looked quite poorly maintained.
