The hotel was okay, and the staff were nice, but I was upset about being charged 500,000 dong for marks on the sheet and blanket. The rooms are so small I had to unpack on the bed, and a little piece of chocolate fell out of my bag and smeared the sheet. On my last day, I asked them to wash it and show me while I left my things there. They couldn’t get it out. That seemed odd to me, since in Thailand you can buy something for $2 that removes everything. Is there nothing similar in Vietnam? They used powder, but I couldn’t tell what kind of water they rubbed it in. They also showed me blanket stains that weren’t chocolate, probably from my sweat, which was strange since they couldn’t wash that out either. I’ve been traveling since November and haven’t had this issue before. I’m not even sure the marks were mine: there was a bottle under the bed that wasn’t mine, no tea or coffee in the room, dust in some spots under the bed, and no dry soup either. I paid for early check-in even though the room hadn’t been properly prepared and nobody was staying there. They were entitled to charge me, but I wish they’d been more accommodating, especially as the room wasn’t cleaned properly. If you come with your partner and plan to have sex, bring your own sheets. Otherwise you may just sweat, since there’s no fan, and there are roosters crowing and noise from the window. People sweat and more, so why use sheets that you can’t or don’t want to clean?

The staff were very nice, and the beds were comfortable. The food was good, too. Best of all is the communal area: so cozy, with lots of cushions and plenty of tables for working on a laptop. There are also comfy little nooks and sofas for reading. It’s better than most coffee shops.

The rooms had a warm, inviting feel, and our host and the staff made the whole family feel welcome right from the moment we arrived at Am Am Homestay. Mum made good use of the facilities, including in-house massages, the hot tub, and both dry and wet saunas. I’d definitely recommend a stay here for a moment away from life’s stresses, to focus on yourself, nourish the body, and clear the mind. We’re grateful to the staff for their kindness and generosity.

A quiet, welcoming place with friendly people, comfortable rooms, and lovely views. The meals feel so heartwarming, too. This little hidden gem in Da Lat stole my heart. Thanks 🙏
