The room I got was damp and felt like a cheap hostel. It didn’t have basic toiletries such as a toothbrush, shower gel, or shampoo, which I’ve had at other homestays. Instead, there was a bucket and ladle of water like in a workers’ dorm, and hot water took 5-10 minutes to come through. The online pictures gave a very different impression. I paid 600,000 VND, and I was shocked. It was raining hard when I arrived, so I booked in a hurry. They wouldn’t show us the room first, and made us pay for three nights upfront before check-in, even in the rain. The owner said only one guest had checked out and that room was available, while the homestay was full. But during our stay, I saw only my car and one other car there. It felt like the owner had made it seem as if no rooms were available so I’d book quickly. After checking in, I felt completely cheated. For 600k, I could have booked somewhere clean, dry, mold-free, and with a view. It was a pretty bad experience in Da Lat. Don’t book here, everyone.

The lady was lovely, helpful, and very nice. The gentleman’s behavior, though, was inexplicably awful. While I was clearing trash and my girlfriend was changing, he came into the room as she was getting dressed and indirectly pressed us to leave, asking, “Are you leaving yet?” and “Why haven’t you left yet?” We’d agreed on check-in day with the lady that we could leave our luggage for 20 minutes while waiting for the shuttle. He instead told us to wait at the cafe across the street, and we ended up sitting outside in the rain. The room was fairly clean, but had trash and belongings left by previous guests. It was basic and run down, with a damp, moldy floor and unpredictable hot and cold water. The price was similar to other homestays, but the experience was quite bad. I hope the owner reads this and improves things, but we won’t return or recommend it.
