Myrtle Villa Dalat

On my fifth visit, I found the place had changed under a new manager and staff, and the experience was awful. My friend spotted pink and brown marks on the pillowcase when we entered. She turned it over and used it anyway. At checkout, they charged us a penalty for the stains. We couldn't have made them, we don't have pink hair, but the manager insisted the sheets are always changed during cleaning and said the dirty case was definitely our fault. I hate saying it, but this used to be my favorite hotel. I won't return, and I'll warn people going to Dalat away because they might get scammed over “dirty sheets.” What a nasty scheme. Such a shame!

The mountain view was great, and the property was quiet, though it's quite far from the city center. We stayed two nights and had a good visit overall. We got to check in early, and the receptionist was very kind. For a budget stay, I'd recommend it. Our room did have a damp, post-rain kind of smell when we first walked in, and could've used an air freshener, but that was just our issue. One thing to know if you have an early tour like our 4am Cloudhunting trip: tell the staff beforehand, since they lock the gate at night and there's no other way out. Still a great stay! 🫶

The view from the property was lovely, but the stay was disappointing. Our room wasn't as clean as we'd hoped: the bathroom had mold all over, the walls were dirty, and the milk for coffee had gone sour. Walking around from here isn't practical at all because the hills are monstrous. Renting a scooter or taking a Grab to the city center would work better. There are a few good local restaurants nearby, though food choices are limited.

The view was breathtaking, and the fresh air and quiet made the place feel restful. My room was spotless, with a soft, comfortable mattress. The front desk and other staff were especially friendly and attentive. I'll definitely return, this deserves a 10 out of 10.
