Nang Chieu Hotel Đa Lat

The operators were lovely, the rooms were clean, and the staff were really helpful. They even arranged an airport taxi that cost less than Grab. Still, I was constantly disturbed. I was on the second floor, and the walls were paper thin with no soundproofing. I could hear conversations next door and two doors away, a phone alarm ringing for five minutes at 5.15am, showers, throat clearing, and everything else. There was no natural light in my room. Frosted glass separated it from the next room, so whenever those guests turned on their light at night, my whole room lit up. It felt awful, like a dorm with inconsiderate occupants, though they probably had no idea the frosted glass effectively made us share a room. I stayed over New Years and paid 400k per room. During my two weeks in Vietnam across seven hotels, this was among the most expensive rooms and the worst value. Such a shame given how nice the operators were.

We’d paid a high price for the room, but when we arrived the owner turned us away and moved us to another house. The replacement room wasn’t worth what we had booked. We ended up on the ground floor with a pallet bed, and both the room and kitchen were humid and dirty, respectively.

Dalat has plenty of hills, so getting into the hotel meant going up and down. I enjoyed that.
