Phuong Vy Luxury Hotel

The receptionists were all friendly and attentive, and Google Translate helped with the language barrier. The hotel felt safe and was cleaned every day. Free Wi-Fi, a lift, and bike rental from the lobby were available, and the Night Market was within walking distance. The room had the basic things we needed, including towels, a hairdryer, shampoo, and a kettle. Muslim travelers will find Sarah Restaurant, a halal place, nearby. I'll definitely stay here on my next visit.

A lovely balcony with a breathtaking view was one of the best parts. The room itself was charming too, with a nice view, interior, and decorations. The hotel is small and quiet, with no annoying motorbike or bus noise and no street sounds. The location beside the canal that leads to the lake was good, and everything was nearby. There were complimentary Chinese noodles, which was nice, but only one glass for two people and no cups, so we had to share it for tea. The internet was also slow at times, and I couldn't always watch things smoothly. One other thing that took away from the stay was the 3% fee for paying by credit card. They said the bank charges it, but I don't think the customer should have to cover that service fee.

Despite its name, there was nothing luxurious about this hotel. Its location near the Night Market was decent, and there were good nearby restaurants with inexpensive local food. The rooms were alright, but the hotel made us move, saying they had registered customers and had to give them priority. We were “upgraded” to a villa for the same 400,000 VND per night, but it wasn't an upgrade. The area had restaurants that weren't very good, and it was farther from the Night Market. The hotel also wouldn't rent us mopeds after they saw my daughter trying one out and struggling with its weight. I offered to drive instead, but the owner refused. Our laundry came back stinky, and my daughter's period-stained pants were still stained. They charged around 30-60k per kg and only machine-dried the clothes. I'm pretty sure the woman who did room service took my daughter's wallet, which had almost $1,000 in it, but when we called, the hotel said they hadn't seen anything. I've visited Da Lat for four years without a bad experience, but this one was bad enough to make me not want to return.

The location was excellent, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Everything was very, very clean. We liked our stay enough to add an extra night.
