Villa Camellia

We booked a room with air conditioning, but found out on arrival that none of the rooms have it. The staff already knew booking.com was showing incorrect information, and weren't helpful. They said there'd be a fan in the room, but there wasn't one either. I wouldn't recommend staying here. It felt like a scam, and I felt the staff were lying.

The location was okay, and the bed was all right, but the room itself was smaller than it looked in the pictures. The listing said every room had air conditioning, but ours didn't. I have no reason to stay here again.

The building was brand new and exceptionally clean, but the noise made it impossible for us to rest. We left feeling that the hotel suited large Vietnamese tour groups better than couples or foreign travelers. This was in one of our favorite places in Vietnam, so it made our trip to Da Lat a bit worse. A large Vietnamese family had booked the six adjoining rooms on our floor. They left their doors open and talked loudly until midnight, and we couldn't sleep. That was the guests' behavior, but the staff didn't seem to see the noise as a problem. After we complained twice, the manager asked them to quiet down. It started again at 8AM. The walls are so thin that you hear everything. Two days later, staff kindly moved us to a room by the lobby, a free upgrade. The next morning, staff were playing Vietnamese EDM at the front desk at 8am and woke us. When I asked them to turn it down so we could sleep, they laughed, as if they thought I just disliked the music. The cleaning staff also spoke loudly while working, and loud music played every morning between 7 and 8am. Staff were generally friendly and accommodating, even though we spoke little Vietnamese and their English was limited. The manager helped us book taxis and went to a local pharmacy to get me medicine. Still, the staff didn't seem to recognize common hotel issues, perhaps because they lacked hotel experience. They responded to complaints, but didn't prevent the problems from recurring. We’d recommend finding a more established hotel, since we’ve stayed at plenty in Vietnam where the staff understood hotel etiquette.
