Amunra Ocean Hotel

Ten days before my stay, I got a WhatsApp message with my exact booking ID and dates. It came from an Indian number and told me to enter my full card details on a suspicious third-party site within 24 hours or risk losing the reservation. It was signed with a Norwegian name, written in language that clearly looked machine-translated, and called the request a “temporary hold” while threatening cancellation if I didn’t comply. It had every phishing red flag. I contacted Agoda right away. Agoda reached out to the property and got no response. Either the hotel is asking for card details through unofficial channels, or its guest data security is so poor that scammers can access reservation information. Both possibilities are unacceptable. After reading other reviews that mentioned theft from rooms, I’m extremely relieved I still had free cancellation. There’s no way I’d feel safe staying here after this. Travelers should be very cautious.

Everything is nearby, and the location is good. It could be a great hotel, but there’s construction going on right now (21.01.2026), and it’s incredibly noisy. The windows seem like they’re made of paper, with no noise reduction. Work starts at 9 am and ends around 8 pm. I’ve been woken up by it for three days now. The rooms are free of mildew.

The hotel and staff themselves are in great shape, and hard to fault. Wi-Fi is pretty good, the man who checked me in late was really efficient, and the other staff have been helpful and always smiling. There’s construction nearby at the moment. It looks like it’ll finish soon, and it isn’t the hotel’s fault or under its control. I was so stressed from looking at 10/20 hotels a day that I was glad to find Amunra. I’m a real person, and I even extended my stay. I did have trouble on two of the last four nights, when guests were loud and disruptive from 4 am until 6 am. I told reception at 4:30 am, but unfortunately he did nothing. I’ve also noticed the walls are thin and the windows only single glazed, so sleep quality can suffer. It was only two nights out of about 25, but the night staff should do a better job of making sure guests get good service and quality. I was disappointed that last night.

The girls at the desk were really nice and helpful. It’s not a bad hotel, but there’s no pool or restaurant. It was a little noisy, and water leaked in the bathroom.
