Athenia Boutique Hotel & Spa

We especially enjoyed the breakfast and the complimentary shuttle to Hoi An. The hotel is a lovely place for a good price, about five minutes from the beach, and the rooms were quiet, with no street noise. The reception staff took great care of us. We felt right at home in this cozy place, and all the staff were so kind and lovely. We also had a couples massage and really enjoyed it. Free bikes made it easy to ride to the beach, coffee shops, or around town, and it was a quick 10-minute grab ride to old town. I'll absolutely stay here again when I'm back in Hoi an.

Our room was really spacious and clean, and choosing this hotel for the trip felt like a smart decision. It sits in a peaceful, airy spot, with the beach out front and the river behind. The center is about a 10-minute drive away, but getting there is easy with the free shuttle, which runs several times a day and can be booked ahead at the front desk. Thanks to the lovely girls at reception.

Room 401 was on the top, fourth floor, with lovely views over the sea and Hoi An's waterways. My wife and I have been fortunate to travel around the world as members of the diplomatic corps, and we can honestly say Athenia Boutique Hotel is a wonderful place. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent. The kitchen team made fresh eggs to order every morning, cooked perfectly. They were amazing. Mint, in particular, was professional and a wonderful young man. I ordered room service several times during our nine nights, and the food was fresh and amazing. A homemade burger with fries for $2.50 was probably the cheapest ever. The hotel put real care into Christmas, with a tree and lots of lovely decorations that gave the place a warm, homely feel. We also enjoyed a two-hour couples massage and facial at an amazing price. The team helped us celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with lovely gifts. I noticed that many tourists didn't seem to tip the hotel staff or waiters, and some treated them arrogantly. I feel that's unacceptable in any hotel or situation. In my view, the living wage in Vietnam is about $200.00 a month, roughly $6.00 a day after tax for a 10- to 15-hour shift, so even a dollar tip can make a big difference. The location, hotel, and staff made for a wonderful stay. I can't remember all the names, but the reception ladies smile as big as the sun.
