AVA Hotel & Apartment

The whole thing took only 20 minutes, but it was the worst part of my travels. I found bed bugs and told the staff. One person casually killed a bug by hand and acted as if that had solved the problem. I asked for another room, and the same awful situation happened again. When I requested a refund, they refused, so I had to deal with the booking platform myself. The hotel said I would get a refund, then went back on that assurance, and I had to find somewhere else to stay. I’d rate this place 0/5 and strongly advise people to avoid it. Their lack of concern for guests’ comfort, health, and safety was appalling.

I’ve stayed at Ava twice, and it’s become my go-to place in DaNang, especially with so many other places closing. The staff are wonderful, from reception to housekeeping and security, and they’re friendly and accommodating. Rooms are large, modern, and clean, and it’s great having a lift. The rates are reasonable, there’s plenty of food and mini marts nearby, and it’s close to the beach. There’s secure motorbike parking at night, too. They’re helpful with anything they can do. I liked the pillows so much that I bought some for home. Way 5o offer great quality without cutting corners.

Ava used to be my favorite hotel in DaNang, but my latest stay wasn’t up to the old standard. Service has slipped, prices have gone up, and the familiar staff are gone. The location is still good, with lots nearby, but I’ve found other options for half the price.

I’d put this at 7.5/10. There are only two rooms on each floor, so you don’t hear your neighbours, and the staff are nice. Daytime cleaning is good, and the internet hits 150 Mbps, plenty fast enough for massive downloads. The location is good, but people often sit outside and yell under the windows. Someone smoked in the room below, and the cigarette smell reached the hallway and my bathroom. The lobby door gets locked at night, so you have to wake the receptionist to get in. I don’t get why they lock it. There’s also a special elevator card, which seems silly when you can just take the stairs. On my first morning, there was a huge cockroach dying in the kitchen. It only happened once, and at least it seemed like they’d sprayed something. People call it cheap, but I booked their most expensive room for a week, and at that price I’ve stayed in newer hotels with a pool. The photos look about 20 years old, and the whole place feels dated. It’s an okay hotel, but very basic and outdated.
