Chay Villas An Bang

The pool area is nice and relaxing, and the staff were very friendly. But the advertised “2-bedroom villa” on booking.com was really two separate, standard hotel-style rooms joined by a kitchen and living room. The kitchen was open on two sides and couldn't be locked. On our first morning, kitchen noise woke us up, and we found staff using our villa's kitchen to make breakfast for the whole property. Other guests also walked through it to reach their rooms. After I complained to the owner by phone, the staff moved the cooking to the neighboring 3-bedroom villa, but we still weren't given a key to the kitchen and living room. It didn't feel like a private villa with its own entrance. From then on, guests in the studio and staff had to balance along a 20cm ledge beside the pool to reach their room, which felt really uncomfortable. Breakfast was very simple, and the rooms could have been cleaner, especially the floors. A dead gecko behind the bathtub wasn't noticed or cleaned during our three-day stay. It was so dried out, it must have been there for weeks.

We booked two rooms for four nights through Agoda the day before arriving, after we had to extend our time in An Bang because of the typhoon. When we got there, they asked if I was a group of four, then eventually asked our names and said, “we cancelled you.” Agoda had already taken my money. I explained, but they offered no alternative. The group of four arrived afterward. The place looked a little run down, though the rooms may have been nice. For the price, there are other options closer to the beach. Very disappointing.

We stayed four days with a group of friends and had a lovely time. The staff were so kind, the room was clean and modern, and the windows kept the noise out. Breakfast was delicious. I have nothing negative to say about this place.

We had a lovely room with a large balcony, and the bed was great, with a semi-soft, semi-hard mattress. The pool was great too, with cooler water than the ocean. Chay Villas, An Bang has 17 rooms over three floors, with several room types at different prices. It's within walking distance of the beach and plenty of restaurants, on a tiny road with almost no traffic, so it's quiet. The staff were very nice and friendly. We'll certainly come back, even though we live in HoiAn.
