I was disappointed by the service during my three-day stay at Golden Line Hotel in Da Nang. Breakfast was included in our booking, and we asked in advance for pure vegetarian food, but nobody responded or helped with the request. We also asked for basic things like plates, bowls, and spoons so we could eat our own food, and the staff refused to provide them. The location may be convenient, but the customer service was very poor and unhelpful. This wasn’t a pleasant stay, and I expected much better hospitality.

The location worked well, within walking distance of local food, cafés, and mykhe beach. The uncle running the place on his own was very polite and dedicated. When we reported water dripping from the ceiling, he greeted us with a smile. The room cleanliness was worrying. My runny nose came back as soon as I walked in, and the bathroom wasn’t any better. Noise came through so clearly that I could barely sleep. I heard the people next door opening their door and even the people above us pulling their chairs. Lesson learned: I should have checked the Google reviews before booking. Fingers crossed 🤞

The only hotel on our Vietnam trip where we felt singled out and uncomfortable was Golden Line Hotel. Hospitality should make guests feel welcome and respected whatever their nationality, and this stay left me feeling uncomfortable and discriminated against for the first time on the trip. At check-in, reception immediately warned us about charges for any bedsheet stains. The way it was said specifically to us felt unnecessary, especially as Indian guests, and made us feel judged differently. At checkout, staff said a teaspoon was missing. We checked our luggage and searched the room again, but they still couldn’t find it, and charged us 25,000 VND. It wasn’t about the small amount of money. It was the treatment and how the situation was handled. We didn’t experience anything like this elsewhere, including in Hanoi. There we paid an extra 500,000 VND for an early check-in, and at checkout they simply asked if we had used any paid services. We answered honestly, and the process was smooth and respectful.

The room was big and good, but I was 100% dissatisfied with the rest. Breakfast had very limited choices, and although the hotel accepts international bookings, the staff and reception barely understand English. There were no mirror lights in the bathroom or room. Bathroom kits weren’t refilled daily, and even when I asked, they didn’t provide them. No face towels were supplied either. I asked repeatedly, but the receptionist was arrogant and acted like she couldn’t understand me. During housekeeping, they left my used glass in place instead of replacing or even washing it. 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎

The hotel is good, but I do feel the staff were slightly racist toward Indians, for two specific reasons. When we checked in, we were warned that we’d be fined if we soiled the bedsheets. I didn’t see them say this to the white guests. Maybe it was because we had kids with us, but no one has ever told me that in any other country I’ve visited. Breakfast usually ends at 9:00 AM. We arrived around 8:30 and were still eating at 8:50 when one of the server girls came over and told me the counter would close within five minutes. There were other white guests, and she didn’t tell them. Interesting. Maybe some Indians have done things like this before, but that doesn’t mean all Indians are alike.
