Golden Lotus Grand

The team gave us excellent service and made us feel very welcome. We’re staying here in Da Nang now, and it’s been a wonderful experience so far. I booked through Agoda and asked for a nice room for a special occasion. They kindly upgraded us to a corner room on the top floor, with an amazing view over Da Nang city. It even has a balcony that wasn’t part of our original reservation. The balloons and lovely towel elephant in the room were such a thoughtful surprise.

The pools and top-floor views were 10/10, and breakfast was good. Everyone on staff was friendly and attentive, with a decent level of English. I also liked the quality of the mattress and pillows, the gym was alright, and the location was on a quieter street than some hotels closer to the beach. There were definitely fewer bao ban sellers and construction sites nearby. A few things made the stay less comfortable. The lifts were slow, and only having two felt inadequate for the number of rooms. Renovation or building work carried on even at the weekend, with noise from 8 a.m. until around 5 or 6 p.m. There were only about seven sun loungers by the pool, so they were usually occupied. The floor was very dusty. After unpacking, I noticed my feet had turned black and asked for room service. The bedding had a couple of stains, though the sheets had been washed, and the towels had loose threads. The fridge didn’t cool strongly enough. The cheap plastic kettle’s handle got too hot to hold, and I was also concerned about hot plastic putting microplastics into the water. Soundproofing was very weak: we heard people and their crying baby next door, furniture being moved upstairs, and conversations in the corridor. There were only two bathroom hangers, which wasn’t enough for drying things. The hotel acts luxurious, but it’s quite far from that. I wouldn’t call the stay comfortable, though it wasn’t dramatically bad either. 3/5.

After the owner responded, I want to say that the front office and service staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, and our stay was comfortable overall. I work in the service industry and have traveled around the world, so I think a better buffet presentation and atmosphere at breakfast would leave a very good impression. We checked out today. I’m having my first of four hotel breakfasts as I write this. The food is subpar, with most dishes cold or presented carelessly. The bacon is limp and clumped together, and the sausages look like they’ve been tossed from the wok into the dish in every direction, oily as hell. The rest of the food isn’t appealing either. Worst of all, the piped music repeated the same song for the whole hour I sat there.

The location was great, though work on our balcony meant we couldn’t use it, and there was a little noise. The staff made the stay extra special, always smiling, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile. Thao Ngoc in the kitchen was the sweetest and added such a personal touch. She’d put my toast on when she saw my little family coming into the restaurant, since the toaster took a long time for impatient little humans. Thanks to her, and to the lovely, warm front desk lady for how hospitable Khanh Ngoc was.
