Haka Hotel & Apartment

We spent 18 days traveling through Vietnam and stayed in six hotels and homestays. Haka Hotel was easily the most disappointing of them. Da Nang has modern accommodations, but this property felt dated and neglected, and didn’t match the photos online. There was mold and dust in the room and bathroom, and basic maintenance had been missed. Our shower head came loose and nearly fell while we were using it, which felt unsafe. The pool didn’t seem properly maintained for guests, and the rooftop view was much less impressive than advertised. Service also fell short. The staff spoke very basic English, and interactions lacked warmth and professionalism. More concerning, our personal booking details were apparently compromised. Scammers contacted us trying to get money, and my partner was misled, so we lost a small amount. The loss itself was minor, but the hotel’s response was disappointing and didn’t give us confidence that they were taking responsibility. In other places we stayed in Vietnam, even when there were problems, we could appreciate something, like the hospitality, location, or atmosphere. We really couldn’t find a redeeming quality here. Based on our experience, I’d advise choosing somewhere else.

Da nang is growing quickly and has luxury hotels and high-level service, but this place felt left behind, as if management were letting it deteriorate. The hotel didn’t look like the photos. There was mold and dust in the rooms and toilet, and even basic upkeep wasn’t being done. Our shower head came loose and nearly hit us. The pool wasn’t suitable for swimming, and the rooftop view wasn’t special. The employees’ English was very basic, and the service lacked warmth and professionalism. There was also a serious security problem. Our personal information was stolen from the hotel’s booking system, then someone fraudulent contacted us trying to get money. My partner fell for the trick and we lost a small amount, luckily. But the hotel’s response to the incident was the bigger problem. We had some imperfect stays elsewhere in Vietnam, but could always find something good in the people, location, or atmosphere. I can’t name one positive thing about Haka hotel. Stay away!

The staff were very nice and polite, and the hotel was in a peaceful part of Da Nang City, close to beaches and lots of restaurants. Still, our stay was just alright. The photos on Google had made me expect something luxurious, but I found mold on the walls and sink. The buffet trays were set out with no food, and the only option was a limited menu. The top-floor pool was smaller than I expected too. I get homesick easily, and I’d suggest choosing another hotel if you want to feel more comfortable.

The reception and cleaning staff were friendly, but I’d strongly suggest staying somewhere else. We picked this place for the family rooms and its location near the beach. Our room wasn’t clean, and there was mold on the walls around the windows and on the back of the main bedroom door. The walls were swollen and peeling. Rain also leaked into the room and left a puddle by the window. The whole hotel felt worn out. Pool matting was broken, and the security fence between the pool and the building edge was coming down. We had to pay cash upfront, and at checkout they charged us for a towel we’d dirtied while wiping mud off the clothes line. Find another place for a nicer holiday.
