La An Old Town Hotel

We could easily walk to most of the places we wanted to see, which I really appreciated. Just around the corner there are cooking classes for traditional Vietnamese food, snack vendors and even a "bamboo circus" show. Anna did a lovely job making us feel welcome. The hotel is in Old Town, so the night market and Ancient Town were easy to visit, but it stayed quiet enough at night for sleeping. The beds were big and comfortable, the bathroom clean, and breakfast and the other provided amenities were a nice touch.

The staff, especially Anna, were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to make my stay wonderful. They had great recommendations, and the place felt like home as well as a hotel. I came just after they'd finished cleaning up from the flooding. My room was immaculate, and the central location meant everything I needed was within walking distance. The buffet breakfast each morning was delicious. I can't recommend this place enough.

Donna and Anna were good hosts and speak English well. Laundry cost 40 000 dong per kg. We dropped it off at 1 pm and got it back that night. The room was very clean, with no insects or mosquitoes, and the beds were comfortable, with good pillows. It felt a bit like a hostel but was good value overall. The TV had YouTube, which the kids liked. There were lots of outlets in our spacious family VIP room on the 4th floor, opposite the swimming pool. From the poolside window you can see a good view. There was also a little balcony for drying an umbrella, though not for looking at a view, and I could just glimpse the river from the bedroom window. Staff carried our bags, as there are no elevators. There were some bathroom issues: the faucet was broken, there was no shampoo, and only the handheld shower worked. Its holder couldn't be adjusted. The hot-water shower faucet had fallen off, but you could put it back on. We were warned by Anna that hot water took about three minutes, and the water pressure was good. There was extra shower gel but no conditioner either. The shower area kept water contained, and a frosted glass door separated it from the sleeping area. I don't think the bathroom walls reached the ceiling. The pool was around 3.5-4 ft deep, I believe. My seven-year-old son could stand everywhere, so it worked well for kids. Breakfast was fantastic: you could ask for an omelette, fried eggs or scrambled eggs, and there was a small buffet with fried rice, potatoes, croissants, baguettes, deli meat, bacon, sausage, watermelon, pineapple, rambutan, perhaps passion fruit, and bread or toast. Great location. I'd stay again for the value and location.

Anna was such a friendly host. She arranged for us to see the "Memories of Hoi An" show and return by lantern boat. It was a magical night we'll remember forever. We also loved the big, comfortable bed and the location near the Old Town, night market and river. Breakfast was good, and the rooms had everything we needed, including a wet room shower, air conditioning and a fridge for water.
