Mango Garden Hoi An Homestay

The host was lovely and helpful, and cleaned the room and changed the towels every day. There’s a small corner shop nearby, and the host sells water very cheaply. The shower takes a while to heat up, but once it does, the water gets really hot. Very good stay!

There was an insect nest in a hole in the wall behind a chair in our room. We found it around 8pm and asked for another room, but the host refused. Maintenance only partly sealed the gap in the wall, and then larger bugs started coming through the skirting board. We spent a poor night dealing with flying insects in the room and bed. At checkout, no discount was offered. After we insisted, they took about 15% off the total, even after we explained what happened. The host was lovely in manner, but lazy and unempathetic about fixing the problem. It could have been avoided if they had taken the time to prepare another room when we asked at a fairly reasonable hour. Nice place otherwise, and I hope the owners do better for future guests. This could have been a 4 star review.

The twin room was great, with comfortable beds, a good shower that always had hot water, and good air conditioning. They made the bed and changed the towels every day.

The owner was pleasant and helpful, offering to book tours and shuttles without being pushy. I was happy with the location: it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the edge of the town center, or quicker by Grab bike, which cost only about 20 VND. Some people might prefer to be closer to town. Several shops and restaurants are conveniently near the homestay. The rooms were decent enough for me, clean, air conditioned, and with a bathroom of a good size.
