Muong Thanh Luxury Da Nang Hotel

We traveled around Vietnam as a family and stayed in four hotels across different cities. The others were good, but this one felt like a busy airport. There were always long waits for the lift, with dozens of people queued up, and breakfast was just as crowded, with hundreds of guests. Service wasn’t good either. It was our worst stay.

I’m not sure I stayed at the same hotel described in the bad reviews. Maybe there’s an older and newer section? My room was spacious, with an ocean view, and the breakfast was varied and nice. The pool is medium-sized, with a view and a lifeguard. The beach is right across the road, and you can walk to everything.

The rooms are big, the shower worked, and I had a nice view, but I wouldn’t call this luxury. The place has no vibe at all, and the rooftop bar felt really depressing. Breakfast was terrible. Most of the guests seemed to be Asian, and there were gold tours and local corporate events.

The location across from the beach is convenient, the rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are reasonably modern, and the price isn’t too bad. But arriving and leaving made me feel like just a number. Breakfast was like a zoo at feeding time, with people pushing to reach the food, so I gave up and ate elsewhere for most of my 8 day stay. My room was spacious but dated, with old, dirty carpeting that caused me respiratory issues while I slept. There was also a smell of past and current smoking, despite the hotel being non-smoking. It seemed that guests of a certain visiting nationality didn’t respect the rules. At check-in they asked for a $1M dong deposit and pushed for cash. After I objected, they took a credit card, but said the refund could take 30 days after check-out. That makes no sense. At check-out they’d forgotten about it, and I had to ask for the credit card refund.
