Ocean Haven Hotel

The room was nice for the price, but I was charged 50k for a towel that got dirty when I used it by the pool. I’d asked beforehand if I could use that towel there, since they didn’t provide separate pool towels. I don’t understand the charge, because they hadn’t properly cleaned the area around the pool. They should consider having separate towels for the pool. They didn’t provide beach towels either, which I feel they should, given that “ocean” is in the hotel’s name. I ended up buying my own towel.

The bed linen and towels were clean, there was plenty of hot water with good pressure, the location was good, and the front desk staff were friendly. But the state of the rest of the place was far below what I consider acceptable. The corridors and shared areas were filthy and dingy, and the pool was disgusting and unusable. Breakfast was very limited and low quality, and the restaurant staff were extremely unpleasant and unhelpful. Housekeeping was subpar too, with dust, dirt, and debris between the furniture and under the glass on the desk. It seemed like the housekeeping staff either weren’t trained or weren’t paid enough to care. They looked to be doing the bare minimum and moving on. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone concerned about cleanliness, especially with so many other options in Da Nang.

The view was nice and the bed was comfortable, but someone smoked in the corridor at night and the smell came into the room. At check-in, the admin lady told me not to leave valuables in my room when I went out because they had no camera view of the room doors. That gave me a strange feeling, though nothing happened. For such a low price, it was okay enough. You get what you pay for.

There are plenty of stores nearby for snacks and drinks, and the hotel offers cab service and scooter rentals if you want to explore the city. The beach is about a 10-minute walk away. It’s an old property, and that shows in the rooms and as soon as you enter, but it’s maintained well and we had no problems during our stay. We got a great deal, so I can’t really complain about its age. A good stay in Da Nang at Ocean Haven.
