Phoenix Homestay Hoi An

The host was incredibly friendly and caring, almost like family, which made the stay feel special. The homestay itself was warm and cozy, and my room had all the facilities and services I needed for a comfortable visit. Getting around was convenient too, with the Ancient Town about 1.5 km away and the beach 3 km away, easy to reach by bicycle or motorbike. It was a peaceful, homely place in Hoi An, and I’d highly recommend it. I’m sure I’ll come back!

Breakfast was a real treat: the legendary Hoi An Banh Mi baguette was by far the best I had in Vietnam, with a light crunchy crust and perfect crumb. You can’t find this recipe online, only the Hoi An bakers know it. True! It came with a two-egg veg omelette or fried eggs, fresh fruit, and Viet coffee. Bikes were free to use, and the walk to the beach took about an hour. It was well worth taking the direct route through the vegetable growing areas, past water buffalo and friendly locals working away. Classic! The beach had crystal clear water, white sand, and some bodysurfing waves. On the way back, we picked up fresh fruit chopped to order from a roadside truck. Too easy. The value for money is head-shakingly inconceivable! I had a comfortable stay and would definitely return. It’s on a quiet street, a short walk from a convenience store, with a big room, comfy bed, street-facing balcony, and quiet aircon. Clean and great value, I’m surprised it’s only two star. Emily was a lovely, bright, easy-going host, and her English was a bonus when I had questions. She even let me borrow the house guitar. It’s an easy walk to the CBD, which has everything, and near the far end of Emily’s street are some of the best and cheapest eateries, where lots of local workers eat. Amazing! See photo for name.

We had an amazing stay! The homestay family were kind, friendly, and helpful the whole time. We used the free bicycles to explore Hoi An Old Town and the beach, which made getting around easy and fun. Highly recommended!

The area felt really safe, with a mart nearby, and there are free bikes or scooters to hire from the property. It’s about a 25-minute walk to the old town. Breakfast came with fruit and coffee, plus a baguette with either a fried egg or an omelette. The host was lovely and professional, and offered us a good rate when we came to look around. We had a great stay and I’d happily recommend it.
