Sea Village Homestay

I'm baffled by the good reviews. We booked two nights through hotel.com but left after one. At check-in they just walked us to the room without asking for ID, even though I'd offered my passport. The room was poorly maintained and uncomfortable: wires hanging out of the wall, light switches that did nothing, no soap, a TV that didn't work, and two useless chairs taking up a lot of space. There was no pool. The owners smoked, so the breakfast area smelled of smoke, and their hands didn't look clean. I felt uneasy eating there. I wouldn't bring kids here, and ours were tired and upset by the time we left. We'd paid for two nights and were willing to forfeit the second, but they wouldn't let us leave, saying we hadn't paid. I showed them my hotels.com receipts, but the owner didn't speak English and called two people who both said I had to pay. hotels.com were helpful on the phone and told me to pay, keep the receipt, and they'd refund me. So I walked a 30-minute round trip in the midday sun to get cash. When I came back and paid, I asked for a receipt and wrote my name at the top. They then said, 'Oh, that's your name, we received your money.' I was really upset, and the kids were cranky. I'm glad we left. I paid $80 AUD a night for somewhere that should have cost less than $30. I'd never stay again. While I was trying to leave, another western man was checking in and they had no record of his booking. He was also raising safety concerns about one of the upstairs rooms. Gobsmacked that people like this place. There are so many better, nicer places in an bang.

The family were so welcoming, and I slept better here than anywhere else I'd stayed in Vietnam. The spacious room and whole property were kept really clean and tidy, with decor that suits the name. Breakfast was yummy, with lots of options, and the location is just a couple of minutes' walk from An Bang beach, restaurants, bars, and mini marts. You can pay by cash or card, though the machine doesn't take contactless. I wanted to extend my stay, but they were fully booked. I left my luggage there for the day, then struggled to get a Grab when I came back. The husband and wife each took one of my bags on their scooters, and drove me on the back of one of them to my next homestay. So kind of them, and I'll always be grateful for that relaxed stay in their beautiful home. 😊

A friend who'd stayed here for a long time recommended it. It's clean and quiet, with international An Bang cuisine just a minute's walk away. The family are friendly but don't intrude, and the bathroom was the biggest I've had in six years in Vietbam. Good value. Stay here.

It felt like home away from home, thanks to the hospitable owners. The villa is just 200 m from the beach, and they cleaned the room and bathroom every day. Breakfast was nice too. A Grab to Hoi An old city was easy and cheap. I'd happily stay again.
