Tipi Hostel

Tipi is a great hostel. I liked the open dorm setup without bunk beds. It was clean, and you have to leave your shoes outside. The staff were really nice and went out of their way to suggest local specialties and their favorite restaurants.

It’s a cheap, fairly clean place in a very convenient area where you can walk around easily. Our room had enough furniture and outlets, plus a fan, which was a nice extra. The staff were friendly and the wifi was good. Sound carries a lot through the building, including street noise and things like neighbors’ lightswitches and doors. Bring earplugs, or ask for a room beside one that’s unoccupied if there is one. I also didn’t like the nylon-like sleeping bag material used for the blankets. Guests have to take off their shoes before entering, which was inconvenient in socks when it was wet and raining. The hot water was temperamental and worked only once during our stay. A few fixes could make this place much better.

I loved staying at Tipi. The guys at reception were kind, helpful, and chatty, and they spoke English really well. The location is great too. My room had both AC and a fan, was cleaned daily, and I got fresh towels whenever I asked, with no charge. They also rent bikes and scooters at a reasonable price, and you can take one right away without booking or waiting.

In Hoian, this is a good option if you want an inexpensive, quiet hostel. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they serve unlimited free breakfast. There are private rooms too. The rooftop bar is tiny but nice, with a good view.
