Truc Loc Villa

The location was good, communication in English was easy, and the staff were good. I appreciated the free bicycle and the ground-floor coffee shop for an easy espresso to start the day. But the room wasn't clean: there was mud in the bathroom, and bad smells throughout my stay. I thought the odor came from the chicken house in the garden behind the hotel, maybe old food or chicken waste. The chickens were noisy too. Their long crowing started at 1 AM, stopped, then started again from 4 to 6 AM. I couldn't sleep comfortably and kept waking at 4 AM, unable to get back to sleep. It felt like an alarm I had to face every working day, and it really disturbed me. For the money, it wasn't worth it. If you don't keep chickens in the accommodation area, that's a big improvement. Guests' sleep and cleanliness need attention.

Nana was kind and helpful, and we appreciated her hospitality. We booked several rooms and asked to be near each other. Two of ours shared a vestibule, which we liked. The place is clean and simple, with no fancy extras. The bed was a little hard, and the furniture and tiles make the decor feel dark. It's a solid three-star hotel, about a 10-minute walk from the party part of town. Overall, a good stay.

Nana handles the manager and concierge roles, and her English is perfect. She knows the area well and can arrange most activities at a discount. Our room was clean and had a pretty view, and I was very pleased with the stay. It's about a 10-minute walk along the river to the Old Town, with a nice view on the way. Staying a little farther out also means more privacy and less noise. Highly recommend!

Hoi An was flooded when we arrived, and much of the town was shut down, so we chose to leave a day early from our two-night booking. Checking the weather had technically been our responsibility, but the hotel was very understanding. They waived the charge for the second night and gave us a lower rate for the one night we stayed than the rate shown on Booking. Cindy was especially kind, genuine, and helpful the whole time.
