Windy River Homestay

The breakfast was delicious, and the room was big, clean, and had a balcony with a really beautiful view. Such a nice homestay, run by the sweetest woman. Good value for money, I'd definitely recommend it.

We stayed at Windy River Home Stay for a month and loved the tranquility. You're made to feel like part of the extended family, and the hosts really care without overwhelming you. At the bottom of the garden, there's a lovely open-sided little building over the river, where you can sit close to the activity on the inlet. You don't find water buffalo at every homestay, either. There's a small herd grazing on the neighbouring property, and you can watch them swim across the inlet to graze on the other bank. The garden and grounds were hit very badly by the floods in October and November last year. The hosts' hard work and nature are slowly bringing everything back to normal.

Good location within walking distance of everything. The rooms are nice, the bed is comfortable, and the staff were very nice. A great place for the price, highly recommend.

The location has a lot going for it. It's just across the river, with a lovely 15 minute walk into the centre of the old town. The area is mostly quiet, the restaurant across the road is amazing, and there are coffee vendors along the street. Fine for a short budget stay, but our room didn't feel clean. The bedding and towels were stained, the bathroom was damp and mouldy, and there was a pair of pants left in there when we arrived. Breakfast was offered, which we'd paid for beforehand, but the banana pancakes and egg banh mi were both disappointing. We also did laundry there, and that didn't feel clean at all.
