The room was nothing fancy or modern, but it was absolutely clean and comfortable, and the place was really calm at night. It’s cheap and great, and I’d recommend staying here. The host was amazing. During the Tet holiday, when everything was closed and finding a bus was complicated, he helped us find one. He also helped us get a great, cheap boat cruise trip. His smile is contagious. My experience was mixed. I booked a Ha Long Bay tour with Alex, which was good, then returned to book a bus ticket to Cat Ba. There were no tickets left for a tourist bus connecting to the scenic ferry ride, so he booked me on a different bus. He didn’t tell me it went around the island through an industrial area and was used mostly by locals, but charged me the tourist bus price, not the local bus fare. I missed the scenic bay views. I believe this was a communication problem and an opportunity to make a better profit. Still, beware of travel agents who sell you a tourist bus or first class ticket and put you on a local bus or second class. This was common 12 years ago on my first trip to Vietnam and was mentioned in several tourist books. Alex is certainly a very nice guy. He speaks good English, which isn’t common in Vietnam, and takes time to explain things.

Alex at the hotel / hostel was very helpful and spoke very good English. They offer machine and full laundry, and can also help arrange packages for days out. Would recommend!

Thanks to Alex, our time in Halong was so much better. He was friendly, quick, and spoke great English, which made things easy for us as travelers. He sorted out a fun day on the bay, brought over my bag when I forgot it, and booked a bus when we needed one. Really grateful for all his help.

Noi was the highlight of this stay, so sweet and helpful when booking my Ha Long Bay cruise and transfers. The location is prime, close to the beach and Sun World. Best budget place I've stayed at, worth every penny. Definitely recommend it.
