We've been to Halong five times, and this was easily the worst accommodation we've had. The manager doesn't speak English and uses a translation app. I found him very dishonest. Whenever we needed something, he tried to charge wildly high amounts, and he wasn't happy with the price we'd paid on Agoda. He kept pushing us to cancel and book again at a higher rate, giving endless reasons that were all lies. There are plenty of great hotels in Halong, so we left a week early and went somewhere else. We didn't trust that our valuables would be safe, and didn't want to support a person or place like this.

The owner was one of the loveliest people I've met, always smiling and helpful. The rooms were clean and the beds were great. It's a little away from the centre, but I'd absolutely recommend staying here. I was there for three nights.

The staff are always cleaning and wiping things down, and the prices are very reasonable. You can rent a bike, book a tour, and get delicious food here too. I'm really grateful to the owner, who replied quickly on zalo and arranged two beds for us in a shared room.

Ha Long Bay was my third stop on my Vietnam trip, and this was the best hostel I'd stayed in so far. The staff were so friendly, the rooms and bathrooms were very clean, and the bed was huge. It's about 10 to 15 minutes from the beach. The food and drinks were delicious, with a great quality to price ratio.

Such a kind host. We arrived from Ha Giang at 4:30 am with six people. We were meant to be only three, but the bus came 1,5 hours early and three other backpackers needed somewhere to sleep. I'd asked in advance if checking in then was possible. He told us to knock, and sure enough, he opened the door in the middle of the night and found beds for all of us. He patiently talked us through the options and arranged a cruise for four of us. He also organized transport for us in three different cities afterward, and it all worked out so well. I can't thank him enough.
