Hotel Soleil Ha Long – Trademark Collection by Wyndham

The location worked well, close to Sun World Park, restaurants and shops. Service was okay, though I had to wait a while this morning for a waiter to bring my coffee. When my wife and I arrived, we got welcome drinks. She took a sip and set the glass down, and it was dirty. The room wasn't cool enough. I tried lowering the temperature, but it didn’t work, so I called maintenance. The technician couldn’t adjust it either and said it would cool down within 45 minutes. I waited one hour, two, four, six, then eight, but nothing changed. After 10 hours the room actually got warmer, and it was difficult to sleep. It seems management controls the temperature, not guests. For that, I’m giving the hotel only 3 stars. 21 December 2025

The breakfast was amazing, and the staff were lovely. The rooms and decor make the apparent 5-star rating seem justified. I did have an issue at the restaurant, but the lovely manager sorted it out.

The room was big and roomy, and the amenities looked beautiful. I absolutely loved the hotel. The staff were super helpful, and the breakfast was legit.

The receptionist listened patiently when I raised my complaints, and the location was the one good thing about my stay. You could easily replace this hotel with another nearby one. I wouldn’t be this harsh if it didn’t call itself a 5-star hotel, but I didn’t enjoy staying here. I was there for two nights and got a free upgrade to a junior suite. I would have preferred the regular deluxe room. The shower head is placed far away at the other end of the bathtub. Younger guests might not mind, but older people would have to compromise on how they stand to shower comfortably. Water gets all around the tub and drips onto the floor, which creates a safety issue. The toilet area door won’t fully close, so bacteria could reach the bedroom? Everything comes with a charge, even the laundry bag. For a so-called 5-star hotel, charging for little things like that is hard to accept.
