The rooftop bar has lovely views, and the pool was nice. Staff were friendly, and they upgraded us from a deluxe room to a suite with a sea view, which was a great bonus. The cleaning service needs work, though. We arrived to check in at 1.50pm and waited 30 minutes before getting our room.

The rooms were clean and pleasant, with plenty of space in both the bed and bathroom. Breakfast was decent, with eggs and a mix of hot and cold food, though I would’ve liked more fruit. It worked well for a one-night stay when you can’t stay on a boat. We stayed overnight before going to Ha Long Bax. Nearby, there are mostly restaurants, supermarkets, and casinos.

From the penthouse bar’s balcony, you can look out toward the nearly 2,000 islands of Halong Bay. The Royal Lotus is a lovely hotel on the outskirts of the city, where the tourist hotels are. My room was beautiful, with a very comfortable bed, a soaking tub, and air conditioning. Dinner at the hotel was a pleasant surprise too, with a good range of quality food served as a coursed meal. Getting into the city means taking a taxi, which costs about 150,000 dong.

The room had a lovely view and was really nice compared with other hotels. The bathroom was well set up, and the water heater worked great. Just watch your step, the wood floor felt a bit waxy.
