The Postcard Hotel

The whole place has a romantic feel, from the thoughtfully designed interiors to the music, and it won us over on the first night. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. The beach is about a three-minute bike ride away, and bikes are free to use. You can also take the golf car for a fee. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

The Postcard is very cheap and the staff are friendly. It feels like a little place that its owners put a lot of care into, even though it's in the middle of nowhere and the surrounding area is difficult. Places like this could become locally known, or end up looking as run-down as their neighbors, depending on how things go. I wouldn't call it a four-star hotel, but I still think the ownership deserves four stars for creating such a curious, cute spot. I hope it does well. And a reminder to anyone deciding whether to stay: stars are relative to what you expect and what the hotel or restaurant is trying to be.

The bay views are extraordinary, and the hotel has clean rooms, friendly staff, and a good breakfast. The one drawback is where it is: Tan Chau island feels empty, with not much to do. If you need a night before or after a cruise, though, I'd highly recommend staying here.

The Postcard hotel was a great fit for one night before our Ha Long Bay tour. We booked through Agoda without any issues, and the room was clean and spacious. The hotel is super cute, with lots of little details, and breakfast was delicious. We even got to send our own postcards to family. Just keep in mind that the island is very remote.
