Wyndham Legend Halong Hotel

Breakfast was great, especially the bibimbap. One of the three power outlets in my room was acting strangely, and they immediately moved me for free from a standard room with a back view to a junior suite with a sea view. That was generous. The price was perfect for the experience the hotel offers.

The breakfast spread had lots of choice, and the food was excellent. We had an amazing harbour view from our 20th-floor room, and the staff were welcoming and hardworking. It's a lovely hotel, and we'll book it again when we next visit Vietnam.

It's about a ten-minute walk to Sunworld, and the room was spacious. Service was good across the board, from reception and the waitresses to the concierge helper and room service staff. The hotel is good value, though it feels a little dated. The hardware needs a lot of improvement and maintenance is urgent. The pool wasn't very clean and had broken tiles. The in-room phone didn't work for local calls, and there was no chair or table or clothes hanger on the balcony. There were also no sunbathing chairs around the fifth-floor pool, and the swimming towels they provide are unusually small face towels.

The staff at reception, including the front desk manager, were very helpful and provided excellent service. From a high floor, the view takes in the bay and port area. The hotel is close to the bridge and cable car, with several seafood restaurants within about a kilometer. It's a pleasant walk on a clear day or night. Our room was spacious and clean, with adequate lighting and enough closet space. Housekeeping came daily or when requested. The shower, sink, and tub all had hot water. The air conditioning worked well, was easy to adjust, and wasn't noisy. There aren't many TV channels, though several are in English. There is no balcony. The room wasn't very soundproof; we could hear voices from next door and from across the hall. Wi-Fi had a very good signal and speed. The small refrigerator was enough for basic needs. No microwave was provided, but there was an electric kettle, free bottled water, two tea bags, and coffee powder. The spacious bathroom had a shower cubicle, basic toiletries, bath, hand, and face towels, and enough light for shaving. There were enough power sockets near the bed, and the several elevators meant little waiting. The hotel has a restaurant, room service, and two bars. We didn't eat breakfast there, but they do have a buffet and an à la carte menu.
