Ha Tien Happy Hotel

The shower was very good, with hot water, strong pressure and a clean feel. The staff were nice, and the location was pretty good for a cheap hotel. My room had no windows, though, which felt claustrophobic, so I’d only be comfortable with that for one night. The worst part was really loud music at around 7 a.m., almost nightclub volume, for maybe 15-30 minutes. I don’t understand how the hotel can overlook that some guests want to sleep past 7, especially when they knew we had a ferry at 11:45 because they booked it for us.

We broke up our trip from Phu Quoc to HCMC with a night here, and the hotel arranged our bus to HCMC without taking a commission. We got picked up at the hotel and paid for the bus ticket only once we reached the station. The staff were lovely and spoke good English. The bathrooms were very clean, and there was an elevator and great wifi. It was easy to get from the port to the bus, and the price was fantastic.

We came back for a second stay, once on the way to Cambodia and again on the way back. Both times our room had two beds and a balcony, and it was just the right size. It was very clean, with AC, a TV, two chairs, a small table and coat hooks. The staff were friendly and knew some English. There’s an elevator, and bicycles and motorbikes can be parked safely in the entrance area. Recommended!

The location was great, just a two-minute walk to the markets, food stalls and coffee places, and the hotel itself was very quiet. My room was large, exceptionally clean and modern, with a balcony overlooking the main bridge and river mouth. The staff were friendly and spoke enough English to get by. It was great value compared with Cambodia, and nice to be back in Vietnam. The neighboring guest house was noisy, though, with scraping furniture and loud voices until about midnight. That wasn’t the hotel I stayed in, but the wifi also kept dropping in and out, which was annoying.
