Fami Homestay - Hostel

We really enjoyed our three nights at Fami homestay. The room was spacious and very clean, with a comfortable mattress, and the shared balcony outside looks over the river, a lovely place to read. It’s about a 15-minute walk or 5-minute bike ride from town, so it’s quiet at night, and you can swim in the river nearby. The host was friendly and helpful, making a nice dinner and good breakfast, and she can arrange tours. Our guide said the price is the same whether you book through her or directly with the company, though she gets a small commission. Supporting local people is always good. Just keep your shoes indoors: Phang Nha has a dog that likes collecting them, and one of my sandals disappeared. 😅 We’d happily recommend the place.

The couple who run the homestay were so welcoming. We got breakfast for free, and they helped us arrange an affordable cave adventure. They can also cook a traditional Vietnamese dinner for 80.000 dong. There’s a good view from the rooftop, where you can have breakfast or dinner.

The staff were great to talk to, and they sorted out my tours and sleeper bus bookings. I spent two nights here and had a really good time. Since the place had just opened and wasn’t well known yet, I was the only guest on the first night and got a private room for the same price as a six-bed dorm. They let me stay in that room the second night too, even though other guests had arrived. I’d come back anytime. :D

We got in very early, and the owner’s husband picked us up from the bus station so we could sleep before heading to the caves. The rooms were clean and spacious. The woman running the homestay was super friendly, and they had several breakfast choices. They also helped us with a motorbike and local tips while we were in Phong Nha. I RECOMMEND 100%.
