Chu Long Hotel

The receptionist was very nice, but the rest of the stay was a mess. The location wasn’t good, in a very dirty part of town with construction everywhere. The place was cheap, but dirty too: bedding smelled, towels were full of rips and holes, dust was everywhere, and there was a strange smell. We found bugs in the rooms and even in the sugar bowl at breakfast. We were misled by the very high reviews, which I think must be fake, because this really isn’t a good place. The bathroom door didn’t work, the aircon didn’t work, and the fridge smelled like something had died in it. It could be decent with a good cleaning, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room was amazing, but this was the most bizarre hotel experience of my life. It’s a 10-floor hotel with about 40 rooms, and for all three nights we were the only guests. There were no staff around at all. On day two, at 9 am, we had to turn on all the lights and let ourselves out. The only times we saw the receptionist were for about 10 minutes when we arrived, and on day three, when she told us she’d moved everything out of our room while we were at breakfast. She said construction workers needed access. That explained the banging, drilling, and sawing we’d heard at 9 pm the night before. This was planned construction, not urgent repairs. Our belongings had been neatly moved into a twin room. Maybe two men can’t share a queen bed. At US$20 a night with no breakfast, and with what else is available elsewhere, this was VERY DISAPPOINTING.

I’ve been here for two weeks and highly recommend the hotel. It’s quiet and comfortable, with fast Internet and a central spot next to the market. The restaurant has an amazing view, and the staff are lovely and helpful. You can book different kinds of trips and activities to Halong Bay here. Everything is great value for money. 👌😋😀

The hotel is spotlessly clean and comfortable, a lovely place to relax with all the comforts. It’s very central, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is really, really good too.
