Hotel Nikko Hai Phong

Getting around Haiphong from here was inconvenient. The hotel is set away from the main parts of town, so exploring meant depending on taxis or other transport. The rooms at Nikko Hotel Haiphong were clean, modern, and comfortable, but the front desk left a bad impression. Staff seemed inflexible and focused on rules, and even simple requests were met with resistance and a dismissive tone. The accommodation itself was acceptable, but the service and location really took away from the stay. I wouldn’t recommend it unless room quality is your main priority, and even then check-in may be frustrating.

I paid expecting a peaceful 5* holiday, but the staff were rude and inflexible. On a Thursday in the middle of the week, I went to the gym and staff kept telling us to leave, then came back to kick us out again. There are plenty of other 5* hotels in Hai Phong, and I won’t return here. Guests pay for the business to keep running, so staff should understand that instead of treating the service like charity.

Breakfast was supposed to run until 10 AM, but staff started cleaning around 9:30. By 9:40, some food and drinks were already unavailable. When I asked about it, their attitude wasn’t great. From this and the other reviews, I think the hotel’s staff are the problem.

I was surprised a Japanese 5 star hotel didn’t have a professional front desk. The woman I dealt with was rude and made little effort to handle my request, just trying to turn me away. She said we had to mention an invoice request every time we checked in, within 24 hours, which clearly violates tax regulations. The manager never called back to check what had happened, even though we left our contact details. I wonder if hotel management knows what goes on day to day.
