Minh Quang Hotel

The room cost 300 000 for two people in twin beds. It was spacious, and the air conditioning worked well. There’s an elevator, which was handy with huge backpacks on the way to the 6th floor. The hotel is in downtown Cat Ba, a 3 minute walk from the bayfront and a minute from a small grocery shop. They let me leave my motorbike in front overnight, and laundry service is available. The reception ladies don’t speak English, but they’re a funny bunch.

For €6 p/n, the price worked well for me. The mattress and air conditioning were good, and there’s a lift. It isn’t spotless and breakfast isn’t included, but if you get into a bind when you arrive in Cat Ba, this place is worth considering.

It’s a little rough around the edges, though it did what I needed. I’d expected a bit more after reading some other reviews, but at 100000d per night, it’s hard to complain much. The bed was huge, the AC and hot water both worked, and the room was pretty clean overall. There were big windows for daylight, lots of storage, soap and toiletries, and reliable wifi. My small balcony had a partial bay view. For a private room with a bathroom, you’d be hard pressed to find a better price anywhere.

The room was clean and had a great view. Really nice hotel, and the staff were friendly. The guy at reception spoke good English.
