We got good value for the money, with a good room. The staff were helpful when our travel plans were delayed.

I stayed for two nights. The hotel is good value, but it’s old and not clean, especially the bathroom, fridge, and cupboards. There were only dirty blankets, no sheets. There was also a dog chained outside all day and night, with a tight chain around her neck and just cardboard for shelter. She had no slack and was left in her excrement. We spoke with the managers several times. They said, “this is normal in Vietnam,” but apparently the neighborhood didn’t agree, since someone even offered to take care of the poor dog. The managers refused. To the managers, please give the dog to someone who likes animals and knows how to treat them well. It’s a shame.

The price was great, and I was happy enough with the stay that I’d come back. My room was clean, breakfast was free, and the staff were very friendly and spoke English. Laundry was available too. The main problem was how thin the walls were. I could hear my neighbors using the toilet. There was no fan in my bathroom, so the room became humid, and although the shower had hot water, it worked better outside peak times. It isn’t perfect, but I felt it was worth what I paid.

The beds were comfortable, but breakfast was confusing, and I never saw anyone preparing it or met the “breakfast lady.” The kitchen cleanliness left a lot to be desired, and flies and ants were around the hotel. I checked the fridge and thought the food didn’t look fresh, then got accused of taking items from it. The only thing I found usable was the prepackaged coffee. They also seemed to frown on guests using their filtered water, even though filtered water is the only sensible choice in this country and location. The typhoon had damaged the island, so most rooftop hangouts couldn’t be accessed.
