The rooms are spacious and well worth the lower price. There’s no breakfast, but plenty of local street food nearby. The host was very helpful with planning tours around the country, and the locals were friendly despite the streets being poorly lit at night. It’s in an old quarter of the city, though not central to the main attractions. That made it easier to see local life rather than mostly other tourists. Getting to the main sights meant crossing a challenging street, and finding the small back alley took some effort. Water pipe construction was noisy in the morning and awkward to get around. WiFi was spotty in the rooms but decent on the first floor, where it encouraged guests to socialize.
