Phoenix Legend Hotel

Breakfast was very good, with a buffet and coffee, though it was served at another place about a 3-minute walk away. The hotel is right in Hanoi’s old town, so you can walk to everything. The room had aircon, but it was old and basic, with mold on the walls, as the picture shows.

The room was spacious for this price range, which made this moderate hotel a practical low-budget choice for a short stay in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Breakfast is served at a nearby hotel in the same chain, since there’s no restaurant on site. The washroom and stained towels were disappointing, though the location is handy for nearby attractions. You can ask for quilts in summer. It works for a day if you’re okay with some compromises.

The beds and pillows were pretty comfortable, the hot shower was nice, and the staff were friendly. But the room needs a lot of work. The laminate floor was chipped all over, and there were plenty of broken bathroom tiles. The fridge looked rough and didn’t work, and the TV had no channels. That high bathtub is a safety hazard. Service was okay, and construction noise outside started at 7am. I stayed one night and paid 900k, which felt too expensive for what you get. I’d say it’s worth 500k or less.

We stayed for two nights after rejecting our original hotel and looking at a room here. It was airy and nice, with a balcony over the street. Breakfast is at a sister hotel just around the corner, and it was one of the better ones we’ve had on this Asia trip. Lots of fresh fruit, eggs or pancakes, and delicious Banh Mi. I’d definitely come back. Thank you!
