A Dong Hotel

We loved our stays at A Dong Hotel and have already been twice. The location is great, and the rates are very reasonable, even cheap. Rooms are big and really clean, with a fridge and TV; the air-con worked perfectly, and the beds were unbelievably comfortable. The staff made the stay, though. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Xuc brought my wallet straight back after I left it on the desk, and they even gave us little snacks. They were always ready with food and drink recommendations nearby. Big hugs to everyone! I'll definitely come back on my next Hanoi trip ❤❤😁😁 If I could, I'd give it 10*.

The only bright spot was the sandwich shop's food, which was decent, almost as good as Subway. The place itself is basically rooms behind that shop, and it gets locked overnight when the shop closes, so keep that in mind if you need to come or go. My online reservation was for one queen size bed, but they said none were available and gave me two twin beds. The room was disgusting, with cockroaches and mold. The air conditioning barely worked and dripped water on my face during the night. A light kept flickering on and off all night even with the switches off. When I went to pay and leave the next day, their machine was broken. They insisted I ride with a staff member on a motorcycle to a shop about a mile away to pay. By far the worst hotel I've stayed in.

The staff were exemplary, and the hotel felt safe throughout my stay. It's in a great location, well maintained, and very clean. The rooms had comfortable beds and bathroom toiletries, and there were plenty of amenities, including a rooftop terrace where you could people-watch.

The trekking in Sa Pa was good, but the return was a mess. A Dong arranged the trip, yet when I was dropped at SaPa bus station, it turned out no return ticket had been booked. They'd also taken me to the wrong office and left me on my own. I spent over half an hour getting two bus agencies to make calls. The bus company said there was no reservation, while A Dong said they'd made one. Nobody took responsibility. It was stressful, when the trip was supposed to be arranged.
