The hosts made us feel so welcome at Binh Ahn Hotel, even letting us check in six hours early without charging extra. They were helpful and warm throughout, and gave us a present when we left. The stay had the comfort of a hotel with the welcoming feel of a homestay or B&B. Our double room was spacious and very comfortable, with tasteful furniture, a large bathroom, lots of wardrobe space, and even windows, which can be a premium in Hanoi. The location was great too: close to the Old Quarter but away from the busiest tourist streets. There were loads of places to eat, market stalls, cafés, and clothing shops selling Ao Dai nearby. Breakfast was standard Vietnamese pho with a fried egg. When they could tell that wasn’t for me, they offered other things, and I had bao buns one morning. The only downside was that the shower water wasn’t very warm. The weather was pretty bad while we were there, and I think the heaters are solar.

The room was clean and tidy, and the location made it easy to find restaurants and other places to eat. Customer service was good, too. We booked two nights with breakfast, which was just Vietnamese pho and a fried egg. That was fine the first morning, but on Vietnam's National Day, our second day, no breakfast was provided. We had to pay to eat elsewhere. I’d never run into that before, and it was truly unbelievable.

We only had a short stay in Hanoi, but I liked this hotel a lot. The staff were nice and helpful, and the friendly owner made us feel welcome. Our rooms were clean and modern, with spacious, clean bathrooms. It’s near the central district, just a short walk from shopping and dining. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend it.
