Diamond Legend Hotel

The hotel looked much better in the photos than it did in person, and the stay was uncomfortable. The facilities were poorly maintained, including a broken shower, and the room mirror had tissue oddly covering it. Breakfast was average at best. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, since there are better options.

My tour company’s usual hotel was full, so this was booked as a replacement. The photos online made it look okay, but they weren’t very accurate. The place is dated and shows its age. During our stay, the water shut off or ran brown several times a day, and the mini fridge smelled awful inside even though it didn’t look dirty. On checkout day we spotted a small cockroach in the room and a large dead one on the stairs down to the breakfast buffet. I was glad I hadn’t seen them earlier, since I wouldn’t have slept, but I stayed paranoid for days afterward that one had got into my luggage. The AC worked, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was fine. Overall, avoid this place.

We only booked this at the last minute, so I suppose we should have checked the reviews first. We arrived close to midnight and couldn’t find somewhere else for that night, but first thing in the morning we booked another place and left. Before going, we peeked into the breakfast room out of curiosity, and it was horrendous too. The whole stay was a nightmare. The lobby showed how poorly maintained the hotel was, nothing like the online pictures, and things started falling apart in my hands as soon as I entered the room. The walls and door were so thin I could hear guests snoring in other rooms. At 6 AM, hallway noise and the elevator were so loud it felt like they were in my room, making sleep impossible. There was lots of mold on the walls, and the AC was so dirty I didn’t dare switch it on. Stay away.

We were a group of four, and the hotel had a room with a double bed and two single beds, which is rare. Everywhere else I had to book two rooms. It’s a small, dated hotel with few rooms, but it’s very clean and right in the historical district, so I thought it was good value. It’s close to the famous lake, shopping streets, and many restaurants we wanted to try. The staff were attentive, answered our questions nicely, and helped us load and unload. When I couldn’t find the hotel and we were driving around, I called and they sent someone on a motorbike to meet us. There wasn’t parking, so we had to use a paid lot nearby, which makes sense given the location. They also stored my luggage for three hours after checkout. The hotel offers full service, including airport pickup and drop-off shuttle, tours, and breakfast.
