Hanoi Gold Dragon Hotel

My wife, our seven-year-old child, and I booked one night through agoda for 23rd November 2024, then paid cash to extend our stay by two more days. On 25th November 2024, hotel staff stole 900 USD from our room. When we asked them about it, their response was shocking. They said they feared nothing, not even the police. We're from India and didn't have enough time or contacts to take legal action. With a sad heart, we ask the travel community to boycott this hotel so they learn a lesson.

I booked the hotel for my family, but they refused the reservation on the day we were meant to check in. They charged us double what we'd already paid online, and we were left feeling looted through a booking cancellation. Please don't accidentally book this hotel.

The location is fantastic, right in front of West Lake, with two Indian restaurants and a grocery shop within walking distance. I booked a basic room and got a complimentary upgrade at check-in to a balcony room facing the lake. There's no elevator, but the staff were very cooperative. It seems to have a Chinese theme, and breakfast follows that style, though they also offer bread, butter, jam, and fruit. The bathroom shower didn't work properly. Everything else was good, and the stay was worth it.

We arrived at the dragon hotel after agreeing to come one night later because we'd stayed longer in Ha Long Bay. In the first room, there were three “off” bananas with fruit flies around them. We'd paid for a view, but a tree blocked most of it, so the view wasn't what I'd expected. The room itself wasn't what I'd hoped for either. I asked for a higher floor, and they took us to a room on the third floor. That room was dirty too, and it was obvious. The linen was marked, the bedside cabinets were dirty but could have been wiped, there were hairs all over the toilet, and the floor was filthy. I even showed one of the colleagues an example of cleaning it, and I photographed the evidence. We decided we had to leave and stayed at Senn Grand Hotel instead, which was much cleaner and better. I spoke by phone with the Manager, “Long,” who said he would liaise with Agoda to find some resolution, but we haven't heard anything back. We want some recompense for this situation and wouldn't recommend staying at the dragon hotel Hanoi. As I told the Manager, I'd be embarrassed to have standards this low. The staff seemed quite lazy.
