Green Diamond Hotel

The rooms are on the small side, though that’s what I expected. What stood out was how friendly the staff were. For the price, it’s a very decent choice in a central part of old Hanoi. I’d recommend it.

We only had a short holiday in Vietnam, and everyone at this little hotel worked hard to make it memorable. It’s right in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Town. Recommended.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the bedroom itself disappointed me. It felt old-fashioned, with dark furniture and two small windows on opposite sides. Their louvered glass panels wouldn't shut properly, and one was held together with tape. They were set too high for me to see outside.

My two days in Hanoi were spoiled by Green Diamond Hotel. I’d booked a room pictured with a bathtub and nice interiors, but was given a dingy fourth-floor room that felt like a cage. At breakfast around 9:45, they first said my booking didn't include it. When I showed my voucher, they checked again and then said breakfast had ended at 9:30, even though it was already 9:55. They showed me a pamphlet with the time, but how was I supposed to know? Most hotels I’ve stayed at in Hanoi and elsewhere serve breakfast until 10. I’ve also had friendly places make an exception, or at least tell me the hours beforehand. The staff came across as mean despite their fake smiles. You can avoid this place and have a happier stay.
