Aurelia Apartments

The place felt secure and the room was really nice. It’s some distance from the Old quarter, but only a few minutes away, and being away from the busy streets meant peaceful nights. I don’t know how anyone could complain about the room.

As a super host from Bangkok with plenty of room hosting experience, I’d give this place five stars. I’m not sure why others rated it lower. They have the facilities you could ask for, everything is provided, and they deserve the five stars.

Check the map carefully before booking. This apartment is far from Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and each trip there cost us at least 100,000 VND one way. Even the Ha Long Bay pickup buses wouldn’t come here; they called us to meet them about 9 km away, with heavy traffic in between. The owner wasn’t very helpful either. Getting there was a hassle from the start. My local cab driver struggled to find the place because the roads were so narrow that he had to leave us two turns away. My wife and I carried our luggage around looking for the exact address until a man came to show us. The road outside the house was only about 3 or 4 feet wide. Then, even though the room was ready at 13:00, the host kept asking for 50,000 VND per hour for early check-in and wasn’t ready to assign us a room. I booked because the photos made the apartment look beautiful, but it was a terrible mistake. Saving a little on the booking cost us a lot in travel.

The staff were so friendly and ready to help whenever I needed anything, and the price was reasonable. My room was tidy, clean, and nicely arranged, even down to the pleasant scent. I felt really comfortable there and hope the place keeps growing and improving.
