Hanoi Charming Hotel

After reading some of the Google reviews, I wanted to leave a fair one. This is a very cheap hotel, so it isn’t modern or fancy, but the staff were great, the room and bathroom were clean, and everything worked. I felt safe, the bed was comfortable, and my sheets were clean. Staying right in the centre of the Old Quarter was lovely, and the low price was an added bonus. I was comfortable enough to extend my stay.

We booked two nights, December 24-25, through Agoda with payment at the hotel, but the owner said they would only take us for one night because many guests don't show up. We had arrived for our booking and were turned away, so we had to look for another place on Christmas night. It was extremely stressful. Check-in was listed as 2:00 PM. Nobody was there, and we waited until 3:30 while the owner was supposedly busy. The reception was unattended and messy, with only a sign saying it was a hotel. There was a massage parlor in the reception and hallway, which made the place feel dark and uncomfortable. The room was in terrible shape: no working outlets, a broken extension board, no ventilation or fire exits, junk piled on the stairs, and no water bottles or tissue. The Old Quarter location is the one good thing, but the price is too high when nearby hotels are much better for just a little more. This place shouldn't be called a hotel. I don't recommend it. 1/5

Everything in Hanoi's Old Quarter is close by, and the laundry and a restaurant are nearby too. If you're Sri Lankan, try the Indian restaurant close to the hotel. The rooms were fairly clean and tidy. For a super budget-friendly stay, the price feels worth it.

We only needed somewhere to sleep since we planned to be out most of the time, so we knowingly booked a cheap room and weren't expecting anything fancy. But cheap should still mean clean, and the room and place weren't clean. The Agoda photos looked fine, but in person it was completely different. We also expected staff to be accommodating. This was the worst place to stay. Look somewhere else, and don't choose it.
