Hanoi Old Quarter Cyclo Hotel

Linda and Saffron at the front desk helped with our whole stay, from recommendations to keeping an eye on our things, and they found just what we were looking for. The room was pleasant and had all the essentials, and it was kept very clean and cool. We were right by the main shopping streets and other tourist sights. I’d stay again in a heartbeat, six stars if I could.

We had a great time and were really happy with our stay. The hotel is in a prime spot, super convenient for the night market and other shops. Linda and Saffron were so sweet and helpful with everything around Hanoi. We’d visit the hotel and Hanoi again!

After an overnight train ride we decided to give the place a chance, but it looked nothing like the online photos. The lobby was tiny and tired, and at check-in the staff asked us to cancel our Booking.com reservation at no charge and pay directly, which felt inappropriate. Our room was small, worn, and in poor shape. There was visible mould in the bathroom and a strong toilet smell that filled the room. The bedroom wallpaper was peeling. The bedding was clean, but the rest felt neglected. Dirty bedding and mattresses were left in the stairwell on our floor, concerning for a hotel calling itself “luxury.” We left after one night because of the smell and condition. Reception offered another room, but our friends in the same hotel had similar problems, so we chose to go. We had booked two more nights and asked for a refund. At first they said no, then after a phone call offered to charge just one night, which we accepted. Back downstairs, they changed their position again and insisted we pay for both nights. A very frustrating disappointment, and I’d strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.

The rooms are great, and they’re made up daily and always smell fresh. The staff are the best, very accommodating, and service is fast. I’d gladly come back.
