I spent three months in a fourth-floor room while in Hanoi, and the apartment suited me perfectly. I worked remotely and had no internet problems. The room was spacious and clean, with an ensuite bathroom, sink, and cooking area that made it easy to prepare food from the market. There was also a microwave, fridge, and freezer. The bed was very comfortable, there was plenty of space, and the desk and chair worked well for getting work done. I felt comfortable locking the place up and leaving for three weeks to travel around northern Vietnam. Hang, the property manager, became a good friend and was kind and helpful whenever I had a request. The locals in the alleyway made me feel very welcome, and I’ll definitely look to stay here again. For me, the location was ideal. It’s about a ten-minute walk south of Old Quarter, so getting around was easy, and heading further south takes you into areas where locals run businesses and spend time, rather than such touristy spots. Bus 86 drops you almost at the door, just one street away.

The location was perfect, tucked into a small, quiet alley. With some care, cleaning, and upkeep, this could be a nice guesthouse, which makes the current condition all the more disappointing. The room felt old and generally dirty, especially the bathroom. One pillow smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, the toilet seat was old and broken, and the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The kitchen was tiny and so poorly equipped that I didn’t use it. There was food left in the room with no price information, so I assumed it was free. Afterwards they tried to guilt me into paying a ridiculous amount for a few nuts. It felt like a scam.
They’re still taking reservations, but DO NOT BOOK is no longer there.
The room was cozy, with basic facilities, and the location was nice.
I regret staying here. I only stayed because I had three suitcases with me, but I wish I’d left right away. The replacement room was tiny, very old, had mold in the shower, and a padlock on the door. It also lacked the amenities I’d booked, and the owner only offered a small discount while saying it was her fault. The room wasn’t suitable to rent at all. The first room I’d booked was locked when I had to check myself in. A cleaning lady opened it with her key, but someone else was staying there and had left belongings in the room. I called the owner to report it, and staff moved me to the other room. Someone else occupying my room felt unsafe. If I’d been dishonest, I could have taken things and disappeared. There was no soundproofing either. The worst experience of my life. I don’t recommend it.
