Getting around from here was easy, whether on foot or by taxi. Still, I'd look for another hotel next time I'm in Hanoi. In both rooms we stayed in, there was a lot of noise coming through the doors and windows. The mattress in our second room had springs pressing into my shoulders, hips and knees. In the first, a wooden-framed window by the shower got soaked whenever we showered. The rooms were grubby, with hairs all over, as if whoever cleaned had brushed their hair there. It made me wonder about the sheets and towels too. Bring flip-flops if you want to keep your feet clean.

We tried two rooms over two nights. The rooms at the back were quiet, though the ones at the front of the building get a bit of noise. It's a nice old place in an excellent location, and at that price I'd definitely stay again.

Both rooms could use some maintenance. The towel rail and door lock were loose, with screws coming out, and the bathroom had plenty of mould. The towels were frayed at the edges. On the plus side, the reception guy was helpful when we needed to arrange a late checkout, and being able to eat at the hotel restaurant before we left was convenient. Breakfast was tasty, with a good range to choose from. The foyer and dining room were nice and had a 1920s feel, from when the hotel was built.

During my two-night stay, the internet never worked for 24 hours straight. It was especially frustrating when I needed it for meetings and sending documents. It's very difficult to come here for work when you can't get a reliable connection.

The big room and the bed made this the best experience of my life. I slept so well and really appreciated it. If you're in Hanoi, you must stay here.
